Ravindran V. Miles to go before we sleep........... Indian J Rheumatol 2018;13:215-6
Welcome to the present issue of the Journal which is my final issue as its editor-in-chief, a prestigious and challenging assignment I have had for the last 3 years.
I am pleased that in this period the Journal had several achievements and milestones to be proud of. Its visibility and reach have increased. Now, each online issue of the Journal is accessed over 10,000 times by the readers who are based all over the world. The total submissions to the Journal have gone up by almost 50% and now, over 1/3rd of its submissions are from outside of India. The launch of the free IJR app (mobile application for both IOS and Android platforms) earlier this year has resulted in even wider accessibility of the Journal. The non-society subscriptions have grown fourfold which includes several libraries of the medical academic institutes. This year, the Journal successfully got indexed in Web of Science (WoS)-Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and it remains indexed in highly regarded databases such as Scopus, DOAJ, and EBSCO.
The editorial board commissioned several high-profile and useful reviews by experts from the USA, the UK, Israel, Norway, and Italy, just to name a few. Special annual supplements on fertility and pregnancy in autoimmune rheumatic diseases (2016), scleroderma and related disorders (2017), and musculoskeletal ultrasound (2018) were extremely well received by the readers.
The IRACON abstract supplements are now being efficiently made available in a pendrive to the conference delegates in addition to being made available for free online at www.indianjrheumatol.com. Kudos to the publishers, each issue (both print and online) has been bought out professionally on time.
As a part of the Journal's commitment to promote and teach the art and science of scientific writing, 3–4 workshops are now being held annually. Thanks to the enthusiastic support of the editorial board members, these hugely popular workshops continue to grow from strength to strength.
The Journal has also instituted awards for the best original article, which is given out at the general body meeting of the Indian Rheumatology Association held during the annual IRACONs. You will find names of this year's winner on page vi of this issue.
I would like to thank my editorial board [see page i of this issue and [Figure 1] for their support, hard work, and guidance over the last 3 years. My special thanks to the reviewers (please see page 294 for the 2017–2018 list) for their voluntary provision of time and efforts in assessing manuscripts submitted to the Indian Journal of Rheumatology.

The generous support from the advertisers helps in keeping this as “platinum” open access Journal and I gratefully acknowledge and thank them all. Finally, my sincere thanks to the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA) for its unstinting support to this academic endeavour.
I would like to welcome the Journal's new Editor-in-Chief who assumes office on 1st January 2019, Professor Vikas Agarwal, based in the SGPGIMS, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is a well-known researcher in the field of rheumatology and clinical immunology. He has considerable editorial experience and has served in the editorial boards of several journals including this one for the last many years. I am confident that under his leadership, the Journal would continue to grow and consolidate its position among its peers in the academic publishing world.
As ever, I welcome feedback or suggestions regarding any aspect of the Journal by mailing to firstname.lastname@example.org or to the postal address of the current editorial office as appears below.
