Dear Friends,

Welcome to the March issue of 2019. Indian Journal of Rheumatology has traveled a great distance since its inception in 1994, and then known as Journal of Indian Rheumatology Association. Journal has gained wide visibility and much-improved readership over the past 3 years under the editor-in-chief Dr. Vinod Ravindran and his team who put in a great deal of effort to successfully improve the quality and quantity of the articles. With the change of the editors from now onward for the next 3 years, new editors and few international and national editorial board members are likely to add to the prestige and academic content of the journal. At this point, I would like to reiterate that our journal accepts all manuscripts only after successful peer review, and strictly adheres to the principles prescribed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors and the Committee on Publication Ethics. For this, we are grateful to our team of reviewers and editors for their untiring efforts. In addition, me as editor-in-chief along with the team of young and dynamic editors will make all the efforts to shorten the manuscript cycle for the authors.

In this era of the digital world, where communications are lightning fast journal has adopted new policies to improve its visibility as well as provide new information to the readers as soon as available. The journal has got new digital editors and has got its own twitter (@ijrheum), Instagram (ijrheum), and Facebook (Indian Journal of Rheumatology) account besides the mobile app that is already available. Readers are encouraged to follow the journal on these digital platforms.

Our journal follows Platinum open access model whereby both the authors and the readers do not have to pay either to publish or read the articles. Online access of each and every article is free to global readers whereas print copies are available to the subscribers only. Recently, journal got indexed in the prestigious Emerging Sources Citation Index, a new edition of “Web of Science” besides the “Scopus” which it already is indexed in. To achieve our target of indexing in “Medline,” I call upon all the clinicians, rheumatologists, readers, and researchers to submit their valuable work to the journal.
